For five consecutive summers, IPS has been part of the production backbone behind the Leeds Castle Concert, one of England’s most celebrated open-air classical events, set against the breathtaking backdrop of what is often described as the loveliest castle in the world.
A five year partnership closes in style at one of England’s most iconic open air venues. As the 2026 concert marks the end of a remarkable 40 year run of the event, IPS looks back on a trusted partnership that delivered year after year in one of the most demanding and spectacular outdoor settings in the country.
Held annually in the natural amphitheatre of Leeds Castle’s grounds in Kent, the Leeds Castle Concert has been a highlight of the British summer calendar since 1978. Presented by Heritage Events Ltd, the event brings thousands together each July for an evening of live orchestral performance from the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, complete with Spitfire flypasts, cannon fire, and a dazzling fireworks finale reflected across the Castle’s moat.
The 2026 concert, taking place on Saturday 11th July, will be the last of its kind, as Heritage Events Ltd concludes its long running contract at the site. It is a fitting occasion for IPS to mark the end of its own involvement – five years of reliable, professional staging support for an event that demands both technical precision and sensitivity to an extraordinary historic setting.
The package provided by IPS each year was built around the 18m Prolyte Tunnel Roof. Installed with a Layher substructure forming a large stage plaform, the roof provided the scale and stability required for a full orchestral production. A LiteDeck stage riser package completed the onstage requirements. IPS also provided two 16m main PA Towers as well as a 10m delay tower and the rigging hardware and hoists to raise and position the PA as required.
Working at Leeds Castle presents a unique set of logistical and environmental considerations. The site’s historic character and natural landscape mean that access, ground protection, and sensitive coordination with the estate are all essential factors in planning and delivery. Over five years, the IPS team developed a thorough understanding of the site’s demands, building the confidence and the relationships that come from working repeatedly in the same exceptional location.
The consistency of the IPS crew and the reliability of the equipment package meant that the event’s production team could focus on the performance, knowing that the structural and audio infrastructure was in safe hands.
The 2026 Leeds Castle Concert will bring down the curtain on more than four decades of summer concerts at the Castle. For IPS, it also marks the conclusion of a partnership that has been a point of pride, not just for the technical delivery, but for the privilege of being part of something so deeply embedded in the cultural life of the region.
