IPS now has the new Pioneer CDJ2000 CD Players, and the Pioneer DJM2000 Mixer in stock. These flagship products are described by Pioneer as a “new professional player for the digital age”. These much sought after CD players are making their way onto increasing numbers of riders- helped by their abilty to playback directly from a USB memory stick or portable harddrive.Pioneer-CDJ-2000
The CDJ 2000 can play audio from multiple sources, including CD, DVD, USB storage devices and SD memory cards. Another key facet of the CDJ-2000 is its advanced HID (human interface device) and MIDI capabilities for native control of DVS (digital vinyl systems) via USB. What’s more, it achieves Pioneer’s highest sound quality to date through an improved audio output circuit, a new audiophile-pleasing Wolfson DAC processor, and a built-in 24-bit/48 kHz sound card.
Naturally, the CDJ-2000’s layout is related to its robust, reliable predecessor, the CDJ-1000MK3. However, although it fits easily into the MK3’s footprint, it ramps up performance with the largest (6.1-inch) clearest full-colour screen in the business.
Below the screen is an industry-first waveform Needle Search™/Needle Drop ribbon, so that all the convenience of direct file browsing can now be found in an intuitive hardware format. Add to these features a highly evolved illuminated Jog wheel, and an overall enhanced design, complete with carry handles and Kensington lock, and you have the ideal digital innovation for total performance and seamless synchronisation.Pioneer-CDJ-2000-angle
The DJM2000 is the ideal mixer to accompany the CDJ2000 CD Players, with all the effects from the EFX-1000 built in. The 6 individual effects processors allow you to create your own unique sounds in conjunction with a stunning industry-first multi-touch panel: a completely new approach to mixing. Also featuring a rotary control and Tap and Trace methods, you get an intuitive layout so you’ll be able to focus on creative mixing at all times. Connect your laptop and use its audio signal for mixing, too. With the USB four-channel sound card built in (switchable to three-channel at 24-bit), it’s never been easier. Functionality, connectivity and quality make the DJM-2000 the ultimate club mixer.

Outdoor Lighting Hire
The nights are getting darker, and we have a full range of IP65 fixtures ready to hire.
With the clock change and Halloween a distant memory, outdoor winter lighting installations are beginning in earnest. Despite a lot of items already committed to rental projects, we still have available hire stock of most of our range of IP65 lighting fixtures which are ideal for outdoor use for your 2023 and 2024 events.
Below are some suggestions for popular fixtures that may suit your outdoor event requirements. These are all listed on our website, but they are grouped here by application type which may be an easier reference than the listings pages if you need a starting point – or possibly just something to nudge an idea into the next stage of development. You can check out the full range and all list prices on the website, and please get in touch with our trade hire team for quotes or to discuss any upcoming projects.
Outdoor Moving Head Beam fixtures – Our Cameo OTOS B5 Beam is the classic beam choice, or the Ayton Cobra offers a Laser Source beam that literally will go for miles in the right conditions. For a fatter beam look, the SGM G-7 BeaST is worth checking out. For a more compact fixture size, the Chauvet Rouge Outcast 1L Beam are a great value outdoor beam (although most are already booked for November) and the Chauvet Rouge Outcast BeamWash1 is another compact fixture with beam feature. Finally, whilst not specifically designed as a beam, our range of moving head profiles do also offer a pretty impressive beam effect at their tightest zoom – the versatile Ayrton Perseo S and large format Domino LT pack a punch, as does the mighty Chauvet Maverick Storm 4 Profile.
Outdoor Moving Head Profile fixtures – Our outdoor profile range consists of the all-round brilliant Ayrton Perseo S, and its larger sibling the Ayrton Domino LT. Our other high output large format contender is the Chauvet Maverick Storm 4 Profile. Fully packed with features, these fixtures are equally at home inside or out – and with all LED Sources are easy and efficient to power too.
Outdoor Moving Head Wash fixtures – Our range of profiles all offer a surprisingly wide beam angle, but there are still times when a dedicated wash fixture is more appropriate – like when you need some on camera eye candy, or a look that is also visible in brighter conditions. Our Martin MAC Aura XIP, Prolights WBX Wash, SGM BeaST and Chauvet Rouge Outcast BeamWash1 are all easy on the eye and lens – and offer a great range of looks from outdoor suitable units.
Outdoor Uplighting, highlighting & Colour Wash fixtures – Our range of static flood/wash and profile fixtures all bring the convenience of LED source colour ranges, coupled with low power consumption and high outputs. With a variety of fixtures to choose from, there is certain to be something to suit your application. If you require a large area colour wash, the SGM Q-8 or P-6 and Chauvet COLORado Panel Q40 provide high output options. For a linear wash, the Prolights Lumipix 15IP is a great RGBW product – or for something more dynamic the GLP Impression X5 IP could be used. The ever-versatile LED Par is also a staple of this section, and we have nearly 1000 units in hire stock in the form of the White and RGB output versions of the Prolight StudioCOB (DY & FC) as our workhorse choice, plus the Chauvet COLORdash PAR H12X IP and smaller H7X IP version if RGBWAUV is more appropriate for your application. Chauvet also make our rental range of IP65 LED Profile fixtures, with Ovation Warm White (260-WW) RGB (910-FC) and the new RGBL Reve providing Source Four-esque profile fixutres – complete with a range of lens choices. Finally, and perfect for outdoor Film & TV production, or anywhere a flat even wash is required, we have the Chauvet OnAir IP softlights also in stock which like the other items mentioned are fully IP rated for indoor or outdoor use.
Outdoor Effects fixtures – Adding a bit of additional sparkle to your outdoor environment can be done in lots of ways, but lighting is of course an excellent choice. Our ever-popular Martin Sceptron VDO 10 LED strips can be incorporated into all kinds of structures and mapped to produce all kinds of different effects – or if you need to create a more organic design, our Chauvet RGB Festoon 2 may meet the design requirements. For bold statement looks, the Chauvet STRIKE M moving head strobe will demand attention, as will the brand new linear Chauvet PXL Curve 12 batten, with individually controllable pods to create wistful colour changing variable curves of light – or the intensely bright GLP Impression X5 Bar adds movement to a linear batten with an impressively accurate colour range.
Battery Powered Outdoor Lighting – If power cables are not an option, we have outdoor ready rechargeable options including Astera AX1 Tubes, Well Fit uplighters, and even pastel output LED Spheres in a range of sizes that can float on water to enable lighting to be positioned in any outdoor location.
Functional Site Work Lighting – Supporting all the decorative and show lighting, we also have extensive stocks of discharge and LED Floods, LED Flori/ Fluorescent style tubes, plus various maintained and non-maintained exit options. For floodlighting outlying areas such as carparks, entrances and exits, we have a stock of event grade HVO powered Tower Lights, which are supplied as road towable units for easy deployment. And we have literally miles of Festoon strings, with lots of different spacing and lamp options – with the closer spacing creating a very attractive effect, or the longer spacing versions being perfect for perimeter, walkway or campsite lighting applications covering extended distances.
Cabling, Rigging and Control – We also have all the supporting infrastructure available to turn lighting designs and layouts into working solutions onsite. We offer Avolites, Chamsys and GrandMA lighting desks, and have a range of DMX/Artnet distribution and networking equipment – plus a load of very handy Swisson DMX replay units for stand alone installations.
We have thousands of kilometres of single and three phase cabling and all kinds of adaptors. Various types of cable ramp including wheelchair friendly options and modular systems for larger runs are all ready to hire to get cabling where you need it. We stock lots of different Power Distribution units, with a wide range of input and output configurations – and have hundreds of units in stock. We also run our own fleet of generators and battery power sources (although most units are already booked for the current Christmas period). Loads of lengths of scaff tube, plus all the clamps, stands, bases and adaptors to rig it as required are also in stock – alongside a variety of sizes of truss, baseplates and stand/tower products to get your lighting and cable routes wherever needed.
TLDR: IPS have all the equipment needed for your outdoor lighting projects. We still have some availability for this winter season, so please check out the listings on our website, and get in touch to discuss your requirements.

Trafalgar Square Trailer Stage
Created: 03 February 2023
Trafalgar Square Trailer 0002 IPS Trafalgar Square Trailer Stage Jan 2023 LS Show 02Massive 15m IPS Stage provides focus for Lunar New Year celebrations
Organised by the London Chinatown Chinese Association (LCCA) and working for event experts EnTEEtainment Ltd, we delivered staging and structures for the Lunar New Year event including our impressive smartStage 180 Trailer stage in the iconic Trafalgar Square, London. The stage played host to colourful live performances and speeches with a spectacular pyrotechnic display to mark the end of the festivities.
Our brilliant onsite team moved the 15m Trailer Stage carefully moved into position between the lions at the base of Nelson’s Column and had everything ready for operation in less than a day. The IPS smartStage 180 is one of the largest mobile stages that can fit in this location, and the quick build time allows production maximum time to load in and the quick de-rig meant the Square was cleared within a few hours of the event finishing.
Trafalgar Square Trailer 0000 IPS Trafalgar Square Trailer Stage Jan 2023 LS Rig 02
This was the first time the IPS 15m trailer had been in the square, and the “neat finish of the stage fitted elegantly with the bright branding of the occasion” commented Jane Russen, IPS Sales Manager who has lots of experience working in this location, continuing “The stage looked great, and dressed in large banners and lanterns provided an ideal centrepiece for the event”.
Careful planning and precise measurements from IPS Technical Coordinator Dan Ainsley ensured that everything went smoothly onsite, and all the requirements that come with working in a Grade 1 listed location in central London were addressed.
“I knew it would fit” said Ainsley talking about the installation, “but there were a series of elements that all had to be completed in sequence, and to very precise measurements for it all to come together correctly” Needless to say, Dan and the IPS team ensured that everything all went to plan for the event.
Trafalgar_Square_Trailer_0001_IPS_-_Trafalgar_Square_Trailer_Stage_-_Jan_2023_LS-Build_01.jpgIPS also supplied a Front of House structure, Camera Platforms, and a series of Projection structures around the square to provide secure weatherproof locations that enabled the bold imagery to be shown all the way up Nelson’s Column.
The event represented a great start to the year of the Rabbit, and an ideal way to extend the sentiments of wishing happiness, peace and prosperity to all.
There are some more photos from the event on our facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/ImpactProductionServices/photos/pcb.5886637041412618/5886613091415013/
We also got some press coverage from our lovely friends at ETNow News and Stand Out Magazine.
Check out more details about the trailer stage here, and look here for our full range of Stages and Structures. Summer dates for 2023 are booking fast, so get in touch with our team to discuss any event requirements.

IPS speakON cabling explained
Do you know your NL4 from your NLT4? Ever been caught out connecting an IPS VSUB to a Y7P? hopefully this will help…
IPS Trade Hire stocks of audio cabling are on the increase, including a full range of signal, multicore and speaker options. Recently expanded ranges of NL4T cables and the increased popularity of these connectors however has made things a little more complicated.
Almost all IPS speaker cabinets are fitted with NL4 speakON connectors – apart from the d&b V8, V12, V-SUB and J-INRA SUB speakers, which have NLT4 connection plates. This means that rather than a pair of parallel wired male NL4 connectors, there is effectively now an ‘In’ and an ‘Out’. If you are using all IPS NL4T cabling and speakers within a system, then it should all just work – unless you have for example a Y7P and a V-SUB, in which case the NL4T will be the wrong gender to link out of the sub into the top. This is easily fixed by using either a standard NL4 cable for the link, or if you are using all NL4 cable, then an IPS NL4T 0.5m speakON Adaptor Male – Male 4mm will make things connect again (or you can link in and out of the NL4 on the top). Seems straight forward enough- although very frustrating when you don’t have the correct cabling to hand.
NL4 vs NLT4 ConnectorsThe detailed explanation:
Some years ago, speaker cabling used to be simple. We ditched the TRS Jack and XLR options, and pretty much everything was on Neutrik NL4 speakON connectors, and back-to-back barrel connectors were used to extend cable lengths. Simples. Other than keeping an eye out for 2-core or 4-core cabling, it was plain sailing. However, over time we started also using NL2 and NL8 connectors, then various other things developed, and we were introduced pin swaps for Sub + Top cabling and much more besides – although most things seemed to remain logical. Then along came the NLT4 connector with Male and Female options on both cables and connection plates, and whilst it is still logical in many ways, it can be complicated to get to terms with, especially when used in combination with other connector schemes- not to mention sometimes it is not always obvious (at least to me) which is the male and which is the female connector…
NL4T male to female cableIPS speaker wiring, cabling options and naming:
NL2 – IPS NL2 cables use Neutrik NL2FC connections at each end, so are Female to Female. They are manufactured with two core 1.5mm2 cable as standard and are wired 1+ to 1+ and 1- to 1- and are fully compatible with NL4 connectors. They can be extended using NL4 barrel joiners (which are Male to Male). IPS stock various lengths, as well as adaptors to Jack, XLR and bare wire to connect to almost anything.
NL4 – This represents the bulk of the IPS speaker cabling stock, and uses Neutrik NL4FC connectors at each end, so are Female to Female. They are manufactured with four core 2.5mm2 cable as standard and are wired 1+ to 1+, 1- to 1-, 2+ to 2+, 2- to 2- and can be extended using NL4 barrel joiners (which are Male to Male).
NL4T – Technically we know that these should be called NLT4, but we found that changing to NL4T makes the distinction clearer on an equipment list and reduces selection errors. IPS NL4T cables use Neutrik NLT4 FX-BAG (Female) connecters at one end, and Neutrik NLT4 MX-BAG (Male) connectors at the other – the male is effectively an inline socket, and mates directly with ‘standard’ NL4FC cabling, or each NL4T cable can be used as an extension. They are manufactured with four core 4mm2 cable as standard and wired straight through as NL4.
NL8 – IPS NL8 cables use Neutrik NL8FC connections at each end, so are Female to Female. They are manufactured with eight core 2.5mm2 cable as standard and are wired straight through as with all other cabling. They can be extended using NL8 barrel joiners (which are Male to Male).
NL8T – Following a similar naming convention to the NL4T, IPS NL8T cabling uses Neutrik NLT8 FX-BAG (Female) connecters at one end, and Neutrik NLT8 MX-BAG (Male) connectors at the other. Like the NL4T cabling, each cable is effectively an extension lead and can be joined in series, or the male end can be mated to an NL8 cable. They are manufactured with eight core 4mm2 cable as standard and wired straight through all other IPS speakON cabling.
Socapex Adaptors – For multicore applications, the IPS d&b touring racks make good use of NL8T cabling, especially for line array systems. However, with a distributed point source system, a socapex option can make things easier, especially with longer runs, and IPS stock 4-way NL4 adaptors to use with our standard socapex multicore cabling stocks. All IPS socapex cabling is 2.5mm, and available in a wide range of lengths.
NLT4 in and out connectorIPS speaker cabinets and amp connections
Unless otherwise indicated, all passive IPS speaker cabinets are on NL4 male connectors. Typically, they also have a parallel NL4 output on the connection plate.
Where NL4 is not used, the alternative connector is listed in brackets after the name on the description. For example, if a kit list had a d&b Y8 and a d&b V8 (NL4T) listed, you would know that the Y8 would be on NL4 in and out, and the V8 would have a NL4T connection plate. As mentioned earlier, the NLT4 cabinets to watch out for are d&b V8, V12, V-SUB and J-INRA SUB.
NL4 is our default speaker cable choice, although we do still stock some two core NL2. If you are using NL2, the d&b M4 monitor is also worth mentioning, as although it can be run in passive mode on NL2 cabling, it needs 4-core NL4 for active mode operation. Also, most d&b subs use the 2+ and 2- connections to enable Sub Top Mix cabling modes on a single NL4 cable. This means they will only work on NL2 cabling using a pin swap adaptor to connect to the 2+ and 2- terminals.
All IPS amplifier and touring rack systems have NL4 outlets. Some also have other options – such as an NL8 output on the D80 and D20 amplifiers.
Why don’t we just change everything to standard NL4 connectors? This is something that we have considered – however, we always aim to keep our equipment as ‘industry standard’ specification where possible to maximise the integration with other systems, and when specifying systems we look at both manufacturer recommendations, as well as what our customers (and competitors) are doing to make the choice. Furthermore, not unlike the change over time from IEC to powerCON to TRUE1 connectors as a standardised power connection, the NLT4 looks to be here to stay.
NL4T AdaptorAll this equipment is ready to hire now from IPS, and individual items can be hired, or complete systems can also be supplied. If you have any questions on the best system and cabling options for your event, please get in touch with us to go through the options.
TL;DR – NL4 speaker cabling works for almost all IPS speakers and applications, but sometimes you may need an NLT4 adaptor.

Pipe & Drape just got Easier
Created: 21 August 2017
IPS Pipe Drape BayIPS fully adjustable Wentex Pipe & Drape system is ready to hire – now with Black & White drapes
The Wentex Pipe & Drape system has been a popular part of the IPS hire stock for some time now, and following much research and development a custom made Black Wool Serge (BWS) drape has now been added to the range. Measuring 3m x 4m, the drapes have Velcro to all sides, so they can be configured as either a 3m wide cloth with a 4m drop, or a 4m wide cloth with a 3m drop – and all cloths can now be joined together. Velcro fastenings are used to attach the material to the Wentex framework, making installation quick and easy.
The IPS Wentex system comprises of adjustable height upright poles with weighted bases that are interconnected with adjustable width cross bars. Two uprights and a crossbar create a bay, and then additional crossbar and uprights can be added to create all kinds of shapes as required. All the parts are available to hire individually, so it is possible to configure systems however needed for events – popular set ups include room divide walls, masking panels and backdrop supports. The uprights can be adjusted from 1.8m to 4.2m high, and the crossbar sections are adjustable between 1.2m to 1.8m or 1.8m to 3m wide. We suggest that some flexibility is allowed within the system for ease of assembly – so don’t use all sections to their maximum extents. Also, when working with walls that have a long straight run, or are liable to be knocked, additional stage weights on the bases add extra stability.
Black White Wentex Pipe Drape WallAs well as the BWS drapes, IPS also stock white drapes for a different look. Prolyte Truss Circle Hire
IPS has taken delivery of more Prolyte H30V components, and can now supply shapes including circles and octagons.
New for 2013 is a 4m Diameter Prolyte H30V Truss circle – now available to hire. The circle is constructed from four curved sections, which means that not only will it fit into most LWB vans for easy transport; it is also easy to add three way corners and down legs to create a circular topped ground support. Based on four suspension points, the circle can hold just over 300kg per metre, offering a large number of rigging possibilities. The Prolyte H30V range is one of the most popular truss products stocked by IPS, and with large quantities in stock, the new circle adds to the existing Astralite and scaffold circles already in our inventory.
Truss-CircleAlso new for this year are Prolyte H30V CO05 135degree corners. These angled sections mean that octagonal shapes can be built, and used in combination with parts of the truss circle above can be used to create archways- and many other shapes. A recent project using these new corners saw a team from IPS build a part flown, part ground supported structure in a London Studio which was then clad to look like a space station!
Heavy base plates in various shapes and sizes are also in stock to help your structure stand up, along with all kinds of adaptors, clamps, couplers, boom arms and just about every rigging accessory you can think of is available to hire – along with Prolyft and Prostar motors & controllers, manual chain hoists and genie lifts to get what you want into position. We can also arrange custom fabrication for special projects. IPS can also help with CAD design of your structures, and can work with you to get structural calculations for your structure.
