U3, U5 & U7 d&b audiotechnik U-Series loudspeakers arrive in IPS audio hire stock.

We are excited to among the first stockists of this brand-new point source loudspeaker series. Described by d&b as “a radical reimagining of what compact multipurpose point-source loudspeakers can achieve”. U-Series acoustical concept features a bipole LF driver arrangement that results in outstanding vertical directivity control starting from 500 Hz for all models. The series has a tool-free rotatable high frequency waveguide. Each cabinet has a common full range sound, with the three cabinet size variants offering different driver sizes and dispersion. The IPS U-Series stock consists of the passive versions of these cabinets, which partner perfectly with our new D25 amplifiers also ready to hire. Where further low frequency reinforcement is required, IPS also have the series recommended B10 subwoofer in stock. This multipurpose sub offers dual 10” drivers from a compact 27kg box. All cabinets have elegantly engineered flying and stand mount hardware as you’d expect. The IPS U-Series are all fitted with NL4T / NLT4 connectors.

• Similar in dimensions to the E12, with similar coverage to E8

U7

• 55deg vertical by 80deg horizontal dispersion
• Dual 8” plus 1.26″ compression driver
• SPL Max 136dB
• 611 x 268 x 355 m
• 2kg per cabinet
• IPS hire U7’s supplied in 2-way flight case
• Similar in dimensions to the E12 (a little larger), with similar coverage but higher SPL. A bit like a smaller Y7P.

The cabinet sizes sit comparably with some existing E and Y series loudspeakers. We see these as replacing some items of our existing hire stock. We’ll still have the super compact E6 cabinets in stock for when space is tight. Plus, when you need a higher output level the excellent Y7P and Y10P will still be great choices. However, for most compact point source requirements, the U-Series looks to be an excellent solution. The U5 seems to be an especially versatile choice, blending clear audio with good coverage in a practically sized cabinet for all kinds of applications. All the U-Series cabinets pair perfectly with the four-channel d&b audiotechnik D25 amplifier.
