IPS Becomes Backup Tech Partner
Live events look effortless from the audience perspective, but as most of us know, they’re not. Behind every concert, festival, film premiere, or corporate show is a team who’ve spent days, sometimes weeks, making it happen. Early starts, late finishes, physical demands, unpredictable schedules. And the inherent pressure of an industry where everything has to work, every time.
For IPS, this speaks close to home and our team are often these people, or working alongside them. We see first hand how hard this industry works. We know that sometimes, through illness, injury, or circumstance, people need support that the industry itself can’t always provide.
That’s where Backup comes in.
Backup Tech
Backup is the UK’s registered technical entertainment charity. Providing financial assistance, wellbeing support, and a 24/7 helpline to anyone working in the technical side of live events. They work with both full-time staff as well as the freelancers who make up such a large part of our industry’s workforce.
IPS became a Silver partner in May 2026. However our relationship with Backup didn’t start with this announcement. Over the years, we’ve fundraised and volunteered at KartFest and the Backup Village Fete, and most recently helped make this year’s Village Fete stage possible, something that felt like a natural fit for a company whose whole business is built around putting stages up.
Formalising that relationship as an official Backup Partner felt like the right next step.
Karl Saunders, Managing Director of IPS, said: “Working on the technical side of events can be incredibly rewarding but also challenging. Backup ensures support is available for everyone, whether they’re staff or freelancers. It’s behind the scenes help for the people working behind the scenes.”
If you work in the technical entertainment industry and could benefit from Backup’s support, or if you’d like to find out how to get involved, visit backuptech.uk. The phone helpline is free, confidential, and available around the clock on 0800 464 7068.
