Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about Staging Legs:

What is a staging leg? - We define a 'Staging Leg' as an Ali (aluminium) Scaff (scaffold) Tube, which is fitted with a bung at one end to proctect the ground surface. Most LiteDeck modules are supported on four legs, which fit into corner leg pockets on the underside of the deck. Our legs are usually spray painted in IPS blue at the open end to allow easy identification.

How long is a staging leg? - When we talk about Staging Legs, we always refer to the finished stage height that the leg will create (not the actual measurement of the item). This can be confusing, as there is a one and a quarter inch difference (approx. 31.77mm) which allows for the thickness of the deck, plus the bung - so a 12 inch or 1 foot staging leg is actually approximately 273mm long as a bare metal part.

Why do you use imperial feet and inches rather than metric measurements? - We actaully use a strange combination of both! As a general rule, we usually work in the dimensional unit of the item being used to avoid cumlative conversion errors. Our LiteDeck modular staging system is based on imperial deck sizes (with the 8ft by 4ft deck being the most popular size), and the accessories such as steps and handrails all use these units, and therefore so do our legs. We do have a range of metric leg lengths too, and there are conversions on most of our listings.

What are your stage height increments? - We usually use either six inch height increments (which work well with our standard range of steps) or seven inch height increments (which work well when stacking LiteDeck to form tiered stage platforms). We also stock legs to create nine inch increments - plus by using adjustable Screw Jacks, almost any required height can be reached.

What is the longest leg length/ highest finished stage height? - The longest leg in our range would give a 9 foot finished stage height. 

What is the shortest leg length/ lowest finised stage height? - LiteDeck modules are 7 inches high (1 inch taller than standard Steel Deck modules which are 6 inches high). If you have a perfectly flat floor, deck frames can sit directly on this to give a 7 inch height. We'd usually recommend you use our 9 inch legs, which is our shortest standard finished height - or 1 foot if you think you'll need a step (6 inch is our shortest step). Our 200mm legs are actually the shortest leg option.

What about bracing? - Any LiteDeck module fitted with an Aluminum leg over 1m long should have additional bracing fitted.

What about uneven floors / outside use? - Staging Legs can be supported on wooden pads to provide addtional floor protection, and to prevent legs sinking into soft surfaces. They can also be used to perform basic levelling of a platform. For a more precise adjustment, adjustable screw jacks can be used.
